The mission of the Iowa Science Teachers Section of the Iowa Academy of Science is to advocate for excellence in science education by promoting professionalism, influencing policy, and enhancing learning.

The mission of the Iowa Academy of Science is to further scientific research and its dissemination, education in the sciences, public understanding of science, and recognition of excellence in these endeavors.

Aaron Spurr is an Instructor of Teaching and Science Education at Malcolm Price Laboratory School at UNI in Cedar Falls. He currently teaches ninth grade Earth Science, Astronomy, Photography, and a science education methods course. He has also taught physics, physical science, and general science. Before teaching, Aaron spent several years as the Planetarium Director of the Grout Museum of History and Science in Waterloo.

Aaron became a Nationally Board Certified teacher in the area of Adolescent/Young Adulthood Science in 2001.

Aaron's hobbies include amateur radio, photography, bicycling, and homebrewing.
