How Can I Help?
The Iowa Science Teachers Journal publishes articles
featuring activities, resources, and information that are valuable to
today’s science teachers. All manuscripts submitted to ISTJ are
peer reviewed to ensure articles appearing in ISTJ are of the highest
quality and relevance. ISTJ seeks individuals interested in participating
as reviewers of submitted manuscripts.
What are My Responsibilities?
As a reviewer, we ask you to read through
a manuscript for content, clarity, relevance, accuracy, and overall quality.
You would judge these characteristics on a score sheet, provide feedback
and suggested revisions, and help identify which National Science Education
Content Standards and Iowa Teaching Standards are promoted by the manuscript.
These ultimately lead to your recommendation to accept the manuscript,
accept it with revisions, or reject the manuscript. All materials are
kept confidential, and all correspondence is sent via e-mail. The work
of a reviewer usually takes no more than 90 minutes, and is completed
within a two week period.
